Just a pic of my new work station, the creative space… I won’t lie to you, I have spent copious amount of time tidying it up. I admit I break the freelancer sanity rule of not working where you play… but I do hope its just for the time being as I get my own place. It’s a big old robust desk I inherited from my dad and even tho it makes my room look small I love how you feel when working on it.

Here’s the non altered pic… for those who like authenticity. The idea was to get the picture in low light with as little noise as possible. Decided mas ISO for this was 1600.

Back in Tokio

Back in 2005 I had a bit of a romantic interest for Bill Kaulitz… Ok it wasn’t a “little interest”, it was downright bordering obsession (Actually it was me who created the Band’s wiki page swear to god!). I with some German friends decided to create an English site devoted to the band, since there was none, and German can be tough to learn. So we created the fist English spoken fan site for the band located at www.Tokyo-Hotel.tk | tokio-hotel.co.uk.tt and LustInTokio.com The site grew to become fairly popular with over 3000 active forum subscribers from all over Europe and north America.

However by 2007 the band had changed so much (bill got weird) and interest frankly fainted, so the site closed to never be seen again… until now O.O I keep a backup of the site here on SilverHalogenide; The design is a pastiche of the 2005 original website design for www.tokiohotel.de.

For reference, the actual font used for the Tokio Hotel logo is a modified version of Kab

Here’s a little project I’ve been working on and off during this period ~~of unemployment~~ between projects. I have an obsession for everything related to this 70’s animated show, the reason why I got into superheroes, comics, and stuff people generally found lame and don’t care about. Fortunately now that there’s internet its cool to love retro stuff such as the SuperFriends. But if you were a kid in the 90’s, you couldn’t be any more uncool… Anyway, For the longest time, as always is with me, I wanted to create a super friends site. And give some design love to this series.

I tried some alternative designs for the menus, but it would take me forever to code. So I decided to stick to a more regular grid approach and use lubith to code it. Check it out. Free wallpapers following the link.

In an attempt to offer something a little bit more “serious” or “commercial into our portfolio, I decided to work on my realistic painting skills. The result is this portrait, in which I used Greyson Chance’s face as reference. I like the crafty process of these kind of works because you’re just thinking of tweaking and adjusting stuff. I still have some trouble achieving a 1:1 look but I guess I’ll learn to do it with time.

Dont let bullying die.

This is one of the weeks I find myself stuck, There’s no urgent work, so I know I should be working on getting my dreams to come true. But I don’t. I found that when I find an excuse to NOT do what I have to do I can unleash copious amounts of creative working energy towards solving a problem. Here’s a couple of belated shots.

For the last two years I have been working on a online web service company that offers online table reservations to users and reservations management to restaurant all over the country. Its called MESAENLINEA (Which roughly translates: TABLEONLINE)

I have been in charge of all the visual corporate identity for the website which launched during summer last year. This includes The web site, the web base application, the mobile versions, the logo, the promotional material, photo shootings, etc. Its been a lot of work and exhausting.

The entire concept is based on classy restaurants and I chose this golden glazed photography against this deep blue plated design using the Titanic as inspiration. I loved how this dining room on the movie are all golden and warm and how it contrast to the deep blue of the dark ocean on that fateful night.

This is the Prince Rabbit’s Tumblr theme. It was designed by him and coded by myself using my old weStealit theme as base which is a mess, and the reason why I am not releasing the code for it. The lettering was made by The prince also, which I find beautiful.

Tim Burtons Lost Superman

I am obsessed with heresy and transgression weather its religion, politics, social behavior whatever… people are being transgressive I want to know why, how. This sometimes makes me looks like some sort of rebel without cause. But still when it comes to my geek passion and activities I’m your heretic guy. From the Harry Edwood Tintin albums, to MissingNo from Pokémon to of course being an incredibly avid supporter of Tim Burton’s Superman.

I decided to publish all the images I have from the movie (concept art, production art, test photography, etc) in little tumblr on its own.

Heretic Pastiche of Pastiche

Probably in what has to be one of the most heretic projects ever. I am working on a complete mockup of the 30+ authorized Tintin adventures for my Tintin project [Herecy 1]. I wanted to have a cover for Tintin and the new world by Frederic Tuten that matched more closely Herge’s style and replace the original Lichtenstein cover [Herecy 2]. And I came a cross this cover by André Julliard from his Adesso blog and realized this one would make a nice cover with some changes [Herecy 3] as it captures very closely the opening scene and of course the mood of the entire book. (I’m really hoping he released this under a creative commons license that allows modifications… otherwise I’m screwed.) Needless to say I loved this novel.
