Today I found on eBay an auction that said:
LOT Super Powers Friends Superman Batman Captain Ray
Which of course got my attention. However browsing over the description you were aware that what was on sale were CAPES that fit the original Kenner super powers. Batman, Superman and amazingly a Captain Ray custom!
In all honestly I always like the Colombian SP capes better, you couldn’t take them off, but they were very neatly placed.
Some forums discussing the Colombian super powers… man they are hated by all… the atrocities these toys were victim of scares me to the bones.

Yo tengo mis únicos cuatro que tal vez los lleve a alguna próxima reunión del foro. Sí, también recuerdo al Capitán Rayo jajaja, que basura.
Lo que recuerdo de esas figuras es que traían un afiche, como la imagen de Supy que pusiste, ando buscándolos por la red y apenas los vea los comparto por acá porque yo recuerdo que en la escuela forraba los cuadernos con esos afiches LOL

Mi primo y yo usabamos al Capitan Rayo como Villano de Superman. Algo así como el hombre solar de la pelicula 4.

Yo recuerdo haber tenido unos de esos pero creo que eran las versiones paques que vendían en el amigo invisible con capas plásticas y un plástico demasiado cochinada…pero tuve todos los superamigos y a uno que se llamaba capitán rayo de hecho por ahí están los posters

De las versiones colombianas tengo cuatro figuras, aunque originalmente tenía cinco:
- Superman (un día se le extravió la cabeza y la capa, lo tuve que botar)
- Robin
- Green Lantern
- Flash
- Wonder Woman
Estas últimas cuatro figuras me las regalaron entre 1993 y 1994,
recuerdo perfectamente que fue por una buena nota en la escuela que me
regalaron a Flash, y que en Diciembre recibí a Wonder Woman!

You learn something everyday… the captain ray figure I own, does not have the correct symbol painting…. omg…
Today i was just googling for captain ray like i do every time I am procrastinating some important job for collage. and to my surprise the entry i created for captain ray a few years back, had been quite renewed and expanded!
A nice picture of the 2nd version of the figure, as well as some interesting details:
To the general info section, it was added that Francisco D’ardoine’s profession is FBI agent. Information that’s new for me. Since it could have only been known in the free comic book inserted in the characters 3rd appearance. it could have been someone just trolling, but the second interesting part, is that a completely new section was added.
The section adds all the info regarding the said Third appearance of the character in colombia, among the Defensores de la tierra toyline. Now this was brand new info I was planning on releasing as an unknown fact with the documentary here… but well, the word is out on wiki for everyone to see.
What I wonder is if the person who added that info has indeed the defensores de la tierra action figures… and more importantly the comic books that came with them!
For a while i have been suspecting someone else is tracking down this superhero. First i got a cell phone call, asking me If i sold the action figures… i answered and said i was actually interested in buying. And then the caller hung up.
Later I found that someone else from colombia was looking for the figures. He posted on a spanish speaking geek blog who made an entry on Captain ray the following:
The guy basically says he is a collector and ands up asking where he can buy the figures in Colombia… could this be the same guy who edited the wiki page? i searched the wiki history…
And its credited for an user that goes by Aftx…
The wiki entry also added the Facebook fanpage I created for this project and the character.
So i looked at the page which i figured might be a lil bit dead… since i don’t really keep it up much. and realized there was a new fan comment and a new fan picture
They were added by a guy named Hugo Cardenas.

HACE MUCHO TIEMPO …. cuando tenia 9 años , mis vecinitos amigos , MEJOR dicho …….sus papas VIAJABAN A BRASIL una vez al mes, y le trajeron de regalo un BATIMOVIL CON BATMAN Y ROBIN , …..el auto del HOMBRE ARAÑA Y CAPITAN AMERICA , y para terminar LAS MOTO DE BATICHICA Y ROBIN ..
Nunca pude olvidarme de esos increíbles juguetes, nos pasábamos las horas jugando aventuras con los vehículos y los personajes…..
acá en mi país ARGENTINA no se conseguían o eran muy caros para comprarlos ….
con el tiempo ya de grande y la llegada de INTERNET los descubrí nuevamente en BRASIL
ESOS MARAVILLOSOS JUGUETES de SUPER HÉROES , eran de una empresa llamada GULLIVER TOYS .-
Esta colección comenzo en 1977 y se extendio hasta 1982 creo aprox, LA COLECCIÓN ESTABA COMPUESTA POR PERSONAJES DE DC COMICS Y MARVEL
DC COMICS :
BATIMOBIL de BATMAN y ROBIN y uno GRIS ( medio rebuscado) de BATICHICA y MUJER MARAVILLA
MOTOS : SUPERMAN, BATMAN,ROBIN,BATICHICA,MUJER MARAVILLA
LANCHAS : solo una de BATMAN Y ROBIN

AUTOS de HULK con IRON MAN y el auto de SPIDERMAN con CAPITAN AMERICA
MOTOS : SPIDERMAN, THOR,HULK,IRON MAN,CAPITAN AMERICA

NOTA.:
LO POSITIVO :LAS MOTOS son a fricción y las LANCHAS son a PILAS

LO NEGATIVO : Los muñecos o personajes tenían los brazos semi cortados en la parte de los hombros, pues la idea era que los sacras y pegaras en diferentes posiciones ( ¿?) complicado porque tenias que tener pegamento a mano o molestar a aun adulto que le pegue los brazos ,,,la macana era que se perdían con facilidad y te quedaban las figuras sin los mismos o con un solo brazo.-

YA COMO COLECCIONISTA ADULTO , pude contactarme con amigos de Brasil y conseguir varios de estos objetos en el año 2003 la moto de batichica , una de mis piezas favoritas…..sin perder la esperanza y con mucho esfuerzo conseguí EL BATIMOBIL GRIS en un canje en japon y LA BATILANCHA con BATMAN Y ROBIN …… de MARVEL aun no conseguí ninguno.-
hoy son muy buscados por todos los fans y eso hace que sus precios sean muy elevados ……
Que lindo seria como lo esta haciendo MATTEL con las ediciones de HE-MAN , que esta empresa GULLIVER 8QUE HOY ES UNA DE LAS MAS GRANDES DE BRASIL ), volviera a producir estos fantásticos juguetes aunque sea como homenaje a los grandes héroes de ambas compañias.-

Just another anecdote for the documentary. We’ve been asking around stores where the captain ray used to be sold. But nothing yet…
Just loved how this super powers pictures turned out… would love to make a sequence of some sort that would look like this. Maybe a motion comic a short one… idk… they just look so pretty.
