This crisis, was so far the BIGGEST crisis between earths so far, yet its ramifications were again. quite few. An optional reading, but definitely an an entertaining one.

Justice League of America 46

Within the chaos of infinite parallel earth’s, its hard to understand concepts such as universes and dimensions. Within a universe there can exist and infinite number of parallel earths, and within each earth there can be an infinite number of dimensions. However As this concepts only get clear through the years of writing comics, sometimes character may use the word universe for example to refer to a dimension, or the word dimension to refer to a parallel earth.

image Now we come along to one of the most important mythos of the DCU and mainly Green Lantern.  As we learned in out previous green lantern reading; Krona performed the forbidden experiment to try to see the origin of the universe. What was not revealed, is that part of the aftermath Kona’s experiment a “Parallel Universe” was created, an additional, opposite universe, the Anti-Matter Universe, the universe of Qward.

Eventually the yellow energy of the weaponers would be revealed to be the source of power from the yellow "power ring"  used by villain Sinestro. The weaponer actually made the ring and are allies with Sinestro, They hate the Green Lantern Corps from the positive universe, who have opposed their attempts to conquer the Plus-universe several times.

The earth one  characters did more than battle and face dangers from parallel Earths. What has now become the Crisis in Multiple earths Spans through what are easily almost 40 years of comics. Also, many heroes have their first appearance during the 60’s.

As heroes are not the only seller for comics, more diverse characters populate the new DCU. Its among these that we can point out Rip Hunter and Congorilla.

image

Rip Hunter is an ordinary man who uses his self-invented Time-Sphere to travel through time. Aided by his friend Jeff Smith, girlfriend Bonnie Baxter, and Bonnie’s kid brother Corky, they have adventures in time.

Congorilla, is actually a continuation of the golden era comic strip Congo Bill, despite being created and published in the 1940’s all of congo bill’s adventures take place  on earth-one. Now whats funny about this character is that for years Congo Bill worked for the Worldwide Insurance Company, protecting policies they had written and saving the company from fraudulent payouts. Which means is basically a piad corporate hero.

Eventually Bill met with Janu the Jungle Boy, a young boy brought up in the jungle after his father had been killed by a tiger. By the mid 50’s Bill met a golden talking gorilla, who before dying gave him a magic ring that allows him to exchange minds with the golden-furred ape.

Also an addition to comics was the Character of elongated man.

Flash # 112

Flash # 119

Geek factoids to note.

Ralph is considered one of the DCU’s greatest detectives, after Batman, and can literally smell a mystery– his nose twitches at even the slightest hint of something sleuthable.

Elongated man’s creation was a mistake– he was only invented (by Julius Schwartz, John Broome, and Carmine Infantino) because DC forgot they owned the rights to Plastic Man.

Ralph was and has always imagebeen married to Sue Dibny, a wealthy socialite. She was sharp, smarter than she let on, and easily Ralph’s equal in terms of wits and banter.  Ralph and Sue became comics’ finest couple, proving that marriage could be cool and that love conquered all.

When Ralph joined the Justice League, Sue followed, and eventually worked her way in as a key member of the support staff.

As you can see in the Kid flash second story… And where does he come from? It happened a few years back when Barry borrows his girlfriend’s little brother and takes him to show him around the police lab for no real reason at all except that maybe it was "change-to-your-secret-identity-and-take-your-girlfriend’s-brother-to-work-day". Then just as The Flash is explaining how he was standing by a shelf full of chemicals when he was struck by lightning, thereby granting him the power of super-speed, Lo and Behold! The same thing happens again, only this time to little Wally West!

(I love how he thinks of Barry Allen in the third person. Once they put on a costume, it’s like they suffer some sort of personality displacement or something)
Now, suspension of disbelief is a prerequisite when reading any superhero comic, You’re telling me that lightning just happened to strike the police lab, through the same window again? And happened to knock over the same shelf of random chemicals, bathing another person with just the right combo to cause super-speed AGAIN?

is it Lightning hitting twice or is there maybe some major force behind this?
